Innovation Day

On Innovation Day, emerging and established chemists and chemical engineers from the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) member companies come together in person and virtually for a day of celebrating chemical industry innovations. Through peer-to-peer meetings, panel discussions, poster sessions, and networking, Innovation Day provides a platform for scientists to showcase and discuss the latest in chemical industry breakthrough technologies. 

Cohosted with SCI since 2004, Innovation Day features the Warren G. Schlinger Symposium and the awarding of the SCI Gordon E. Moore Medal and the SCI Perkin Medal.

The 23rd annual Innovation Day will be held on September 21, 2026, at the Science History Institute in Philadelphia and online.

The Science History Institute and the Society of Chemical Industry America presented the 22nd annual Innovation Day on September 8, 2025.
Moore Medal

SCI Gordon E. Moore Medal

The SCI Gordon E. Moore Medal recognizes early-career success in innovation, as reflected both in market impact and improvement to quality of life.

SCI Perkin Medal

The SCI Perkin Medal is recognized as one of the highest honors given for outstanding work in applied chemistry in the United States.
