Research Centers

At the Science History Institute scholarly research is conducted and shared by staff and visiting fellows. We conduct oral history interviews, examine museum objects, study library collections, present our research to a variety of audiences, and develop models for digital, oral history, and public-history communities.

The Institute’s Center for Oral History and the Beckman Center for the History of Chemistry are dedicated to scholarly research on the history of science.

Our work is supported by the collections in the Othmer Library of Chemical History, which encompass the history of chemistry and related sciences, technologies, and industries. The result is the publication of research into books, journals, textbooks, and public-history and digital initiatives.
