
Jacob Jones
Jacob Jones, PhD, is a freelance science and technology researcher and writer. He was previously an assistant professor at the University of Hildesheim in Germany, where he taught from 2013 until his retirement in 2024.
Jones’s main research and writing interests include the history of plant exploration (his PhD topic), as well as agricultural and environmental history, and the history of science and technology more generally. He has also worked at a number of public history venues in the United States, including for the National Park Service and five years at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. He has also authored multiple entries in U.S. history and the history of science and technology for reference and classroom volumes.
