The Science History Institute is led by president and CEO David Cole, who works closely with the Board of Directors, Board of Advisors, Affiliates Council, and the leadership team to fulfill the Institute’s mission of expanding knowledge and sharing perspectives in the history of science.
David A. Cole
President and CEO
David Cole is the president and CEO of the Science History Institute, a position he has held since May 2020. Despite beginning his tenure during a global pandemic, he has successfully expanded our public outreach efforts—both nationally and internationally—and will continue to guide the Institute as we prepare to celebrate our 40th anniversary in 2023. Cole was previously the executive director of the Hagley Museum and Library in Delaware and also served as the vice president for advancement, communications, and public education at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Lewis E. Gasorek
Chair, Board of Directors
Lewis Gasorek is chair of the Institute’s Board of Directors, serving as a liaison with the leadership team and providing counsel to the president and CEO. He was elected as board chair on July 1, 2022. For the past 32 years, Gasorek has run Listowel Incorporated, a New York-based asset management firm that focuses on individuals and foundations. Prior to Listowel he spent 10 years at American Cyanamid, primarily in planning and business development roles. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Princeton University in 1979 and an MBA in finance and operations research from Carnegie Mellon University in 1981. Gasorek is married with two adult children and lives in Weehawken, New Jersey.
