Science History Institute

Celebrate Independence Day with the Science History Institute by exploring the history of fireworks.

We’ll be at Franklin Square with some oooh-and-aaah-inspiring activities for all ages.

You’ll find us alongside face painters, storytellers, lantern-making workshops, book giveaways, tai chi classes, and more.

This free event is part of the Wawa Welcome America festival being held June 19–July 4 across the city.

Wawa Welcome America is Philadelphia’s premier 4th of July festival, the largest July 4th celebration in America, and one of the largest free festivals in the country.
