Awards Program

The Science History Institute’s Awards Program recognizes the achievements of outstanding researchers, business leaders, and entrepreneurs who have made extraordinary contributions to science and technology.

Whether by inventing a pioneering instrument, founding a landmark company, or discovering a pharmaceutical breakthrough, the awardees have changed the world in which we live through their innovation and hard work. It is our privilege to honor the history they have made and their many contributions to society.

Othmer Gold Medal

The Institute’s preeminent award honors individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the material sciences.

Richard J. Bolte Sr. Award for Supporting Industries

The Bolte Award recognizes those who provide products or services vital to the continuing growth and development of the chemical and molecular sciences community.

American Institute of Chemists Gold Medal

This joint award recognizes extraordinary accomplishments in chemistry or chemical engineering in the United States.

Biotechnology Heritage Award

This award honors individuals who have contributed significantly to the growth of biotechnology through discovery, innovation, commercialization, and/or public understanding.

Franklin-Lavoisier Prize

This prize recognizes meritorious efforts in the preservation or promotion of the entwined scientific heritage of France and the United States.

This award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the petrochemical field.
